After Assad’s visit to Moscow, high time to act

Let’s be realistic and call things by their names and not practice politics according to our whims as we, Syrians, have done so far. Assad’s visit to Moscow, the brief statements made by him and Putin, and Putin’s body language, were a clear declaration that Russia’s ally in Syria is Assad, not the Syrian people.

Russia is also saying that their sweet talk to the international community, and to some Syrian opponents who wanted to believe, that it wanted more political reform in Syria than what Assad allowed, was only a joke

Putin’s desire has not changed: It is to keep Syria under Assad the son as it was in the time of Assad the father. Russia is also saying that their sweet talk to the international community, and to some Syrian opponents who wanted to believe, that it wanted more political reform in Syria than what Assad allowed, was only a joke.

Now Russia is clear: “We have no ally in Syria except Assad and only Assad.”

But Syria will not survive in this way. Continuing on the current path will only lead the country toward final death and vanishment.

The American policy appears to have been to pass the time until the whole region was torn apart and any other way of wording it is only sweet talk

The international circumstances are now suitable and the US administration is obligated to return to the Syrian file to repair what it has already ruined since its intervention in 2011 through Robert Ford initially, and then the envoys who followed him. The American policy appears to have been to pass the time until the whole region was torn apart and any other way of wording it is only sweet talk.

And throwing dollars at some organizations and at some armed factions is not enough for the U.S. to say that it has done its job. Saying that the Syrians were not ready and that they are the ones to blame for any shortcomings is just a waste of words. Anyone who has worked in politics in Syria in the last ten years is fully aware of the accuracy of what I say.

if this American administration wants to show that it still has a say, if not THE say, in the region, the time is right to move on Syria and it is high time indeed

And because the time has come, as I said, to turn around the international situation regarding Russia, Ukraine, the Middle East, Iran, China, and Saudi Arabia, if this American administration wants to show that it still has a say, if not THE say, in the region, the time is right to move on Syria and it is high time indeed.

The call now is for some Syrians to come up with a different plan for the entire future of Syria and present it to the American administration.
